Kobe is a great developing player, but I was annoyed when this eighteen year old kid told me he was better than Jordan. This kid probably seen two MJ clips and think he knows the real deal. Imagine a prime time Jordan playing in the league now with all the rule changes; especially the hand-checking rule. It would be total pandemonium. Round of applause for MJ and then Kobe.

kobe burns jordan the things that kobe does is incredible 81 points in a game 62 in 3 quarters michael can only get 62 in the whole game michael had scotty pippen and eveybody else. that includes phil jackson. kobe had shaq but if it wasnt for kobe lakers wouldnt have been a dynasty. still is. reverse slams crazy layups he’s the player everyone wants to play with regaurdeless of ballhog or not. he puts the fans in the stands. the lakers wont even win 25 games without kobe. kobe is the best hands down jordan is second.

There is no comparison between the two. MJ is the greatest basketball player of all times. He carried a team for his whole career. He had to be the intimidator in a time when opposing teams could almost cut your neck and legs out and just beat you up physically with minimal repurcussions(detroit, Knicks). Kobe has never had to face that and always had shaq to mete out justice. Even with that type of roughouse defense, MJ never shot below 50% in his prime. Kobe’s best season doesn’t compare with MJ’s best 8 or 9. Mj’s stats are even better in his later years at age 35 with the bulls. MJ had a season where he scored 37.1 pts, 5.2 bounds 4.6 assts. and shot 48.2%, while having 2.88 stls and an incredible # of blocks. He had another season with 35 pts and 53.5% field goals as well as 5.5 bounds and 5.9 assts. Another season 32.5 pts, 8 bounds 8 assts, 53.8% field goals numerous stls and assists etc. Kobe has never approached these stats in his best years in any category and MJ was a guard and playing back when defenses were tough, not this weak(touch me and i’ll sue) defense kobe plays against. The guy that said MJ always had scottie pippen must have been in diapers when mj played. His first 3 yrs were with players nobody knows. All the scoring Kobe has done this year (82 pts etc) and his pts per game is a mere 31.5. Imagine what MJ had to do to score 37.1. And this was b/4 phil. After phil when MJ had a better cast of characters he took his scoring down for the benefit of the team and his stats were still much better than Kobe’s best years!!! No comparison. And were not even talking about defense. As a shooting guard, Michael doubled Kobes blocks per game throughout his career and had so many more steals per game. Please!!!!! Youngsters, don’t let the media spoonfeed players to you in order to hype the game. Do the research. Kobe’s a good player but you will never be able to compare him to MJ. Mj annihilated the competition during his time and in my opinion, all time. Kobe is not even the best player of his era. You have to convince me he’s better than Dwayne Wade. Also, if you bring in playoff MJ, then it’s an even bigger spanking for Kobe. Kobe couldn’t even play with the mildly tight defense Detroit put on em a few yrs ago in the championships. What would he have done against the original bad boys? Probably cried for his mommy. Those boys did everything short of bring a gun to the court for MJ and still they couldn’t stop him. They wrote books about him, dreamt about him and are probably still having nightmares about him. Kobe, well sometimes he just dissappears if the playoff D is too tight. And in this day and age, Kobe shoots a miserable lifetime 45% field goal average.
Kids…. MJ was basketball. In the basketball bible he’s Jesus Christ and the media is Judas, because they carried the pedestal he was on and as soon as he retired they’ve been betraying him ever since, trying to throw somebody else up there. What they fail to understand is greatness is born not made. Forget that and you get played.

No, Kobe is not close to MJ statistically, but are you people kidding me.

Some guy up there said you had to convince him Kobe was better than Wade? First of all, 45% isn’t even that bad, and if you drop the first 3 years of Kobe’s career, he’s averaging over 28 points. Also, Kobe’s defense is MUCH, MUCH better than Wade, or Lebron, or anyone else even in the argument of the best of this era (and plus, Wade isn’t the same era as Kobe, Wade and Lebron and Dwight Howard are the future, Kobe Duncan Shaq Garnett are now.). His all defensive teams, all-star MVPs, championships, and leading the league in scoring should count for something? At this point he is the most talented in the NBA, and is probably in the top 3 shooting guards of all time (behind MJ and Jerry West).

Kobe Bryant is no where near the greatness jordan was. He is not even the top player. He can not even carry his team. but yet LEBRON JAMES IS!!! and james has nobody around him. kobe has talent around him. kobe will never be close to jordan. Jordan is the greatest and always will be. sorry kobe fanz. kobe needs to do his own thing and not try to copy him. why would you want to be remembered for playing like jordan, you would want to be remembered for playing like kobe.

Jordan is great. Jordan is hands down the best shooting guard the league has ever produced. But to say that kobe is no where near the greatness of jordan is foolish. Even jordan himself has praised Kobe bryant. Putting up 81 points in a game is unreal. I don’t care who your playing against or who you play with, if 1 player single handedly drops 81 points on a team, HE IS ONE OF THE BEST OF ALL TIME. To put him down because of a few bad games or because he may have not produced at times(mind you he gets double teamed almost every game) is an insult to him. To purely compare statistics is stupid because a lot has changed in basketball in the last decade. And the competitiveness of the game has definitely improved over the years.

All you kobe haters out there, just fucking grow up. If you think that Kobe is not the best shooting guard in the game, and that he isn’t comparable to jordan, you’re crazy

The only people that think Kobe is a better basketball player than MJ are the people that weren’t around when MJ ruled the world(or they were very young). MJ transcended the game like no other player. He was hands down the best athlete in the world at the time and he was the most dominate player in the league. Kobe is in no question a great basketball player, he just isn’t as great a basketball player as MJ. MJ not only played on a higher lever than everyone else, anybody who played with him played at a level that they couldn’t play with anyone else. Someone used Pippen as a reason why MJ was as successful as he was…Pippen if you watched the NBA at the time…was the most overrated player in the league. And the only reason for that was because of MJ. I dont think anyone was trying to take anything away from Kobe’s skills or “hatin on him” like someone else said. But Kobe isn’t the team player or the basketball player in a whole that MJ was.

Now the NFL rules over the NBA because the NBA lost its starpower when Jordan retired. You wanna know greatness? Ask an average grandmother selling fruits in a third-world who Kobe Bryant is…then ask her Michael Jordan. I did that. Michale Jordan transcended basketball to become a synonym of greatness in sports and citizenship. Kobe is a great player, as Shaq, Lebron, Olajuwon, Bird, Magic, Iverson, Mailman, Russel… but MJ goes beyond that. Have you ever seen sportscasters of other sports refer to the best athlete the sport has as “the Kobe Bryant of _______” ..NO… they say the Michael Jordan. Wait till the end of Kobe’s career and then we’ll know who was a better, not only player, but an all-around great.

This is so unfair to compare Kobe to MJ, cause its not even close. MJ finished with 6 rings and has 5 regular season mvp’s to go along with 6 finals mvp’s. Kobe has half the rings. Also, how is Kobe doing in the mvp category? If I am not wrong, he has only finished top three at best his whole career for regular season votes. Then Jordan has 2 olympic gold medals and a ncaa championship. All this while finding time to take a year and a half to do other sports in between.

NBA Finals record for highest single-series scoring average — 41.0 ppg (1993), NBA Finals record for most three-point field goals made — 42; and most consecutive games with 20 or more points — 35 (June 2, 1991-June 14, 1998), NBA Finals single-game record for most points in one half — 35 (June 3, 1992 vs. Portland), and most three-point field goals made in one half during the finals — 6 (June 3, 1992, vs. Portland). Yes that is 18 pts in one half just in threes. At the start of that series wasn’t Clide suppose to be the better outside shooter? Boy were the writers wrong about jordans outside game back then. Michael Jordan is simply the greatest athlete ever to play in a major team sport. No one will ever be like him. And everyone loved him because he was just an all-round nice guy. And what a role model for young people at the time. Always a true gentleman on and of the pitch.

There are differences on whether people like Kobe or not. But there were no differences about MJ in his prime. Loved and admired by everyone who loved the game of basketball, no matter what team they routed for. How could you not like him?

His 23 Bulls shirt is still the best selling jersey today, almost 10 years since he last wore it.

If one just looks at the stats and facts, there is really no question that Jordan outperforms on almost every important measure. That, plus his ability to lead and inspire his team is something that Kobe seems to lack almost completely.

Kobe is obviously one of the great all time players just in terms of sheer ability. Overall though, he hold no candle to Jordan and it’s unlikely Kobe will ever catch MJ in stats OR overall achievements.

Sher MJ has got more trophies than kobe but the shit kobe does every game deserves a trophie he avereges around 24.3 points a game. Not including the sick assistes he rolls in every game.MJ was good and i got mad props for him but as for me i would compare kobe to MJ anyday!!!
